Batteries 101
I couldn't find the one I got, but it had enough room inside to place a small on off switch so it doesn't drain a battery if you leave it on. Don On 12/19/2022 9:57 AM, Chris Pickett via groups.io wro

I use my Dewalt 20v batteries with a slide on adapter that has both 12v out and 2 USB ports for a lot of things. Like this one, 12v at 5A. https://www.amazon.com/converter-20V-batteries-interface-comp

I wouldn't want to run much more than 5w on Eneloops and even that is pushing it. I am a big fan of cheap 12v drone batteries for portable ham radio.

easy....with a 40cm long rubber duck I can hit a repeater 50miles away, and may have a legible input, or I may not. With anything else it is a clear communication Check out my blogs! http://greekprepa

My VHF Tape Dipole Antenna Build.
Nice write up. I had not thought about making a dipole like this. I made one of the yagi with a tape measure that worked well for direction finding, and if you hit a tree, it would bend and pop back.

[New post] What We Can Learn: Kazakhstan
Great read, will be exploring the site more. Probably should have gone in the OGC-Prepper sub-forum though based on content.

My VHF Tape Dipole Antenna Build.
Nice. I'd be interested to see a real world comparison against the HT rubber duck. Seems that's never done with VHF.
